Ton Steine Scherben - SPECIAL zur Ausstellung im Küstenmuseum

Ton Steine Scherben - SPECIAL zur Ausstellung im Küstenmuseum

In the organizer's words:

It all began in 1970, when Ton Steine Scherben emerged from two street theater groups in Kreuzberg before playing their first concert at the Love and Peace Festival on Fehmarn, where Jimi Hendrix of all people gave his last concert and the stage finally went up in flames.
The two street theaters from the second half of the 1960s reacted to current events and engaged directly with the audience, with what moved them, with their dreams and longings for a life without authority.
Ton Steine Scherben adopted this approach in their music and thus provided the soundtrack for the post-68s and, above all, the squatter movement. They were inspired by rock music and sang in German, directly and unadorned from the street - so that everyone could understand the message. Because the fact that they had a message was what set them apart from many bands. And unlike the punk bands later on with their "No Future", they did see a future: a better one that could be built together. It is precisely this unconditional belief, this hope, that makes the Scherben's songs seem so timeless and sometimes even frighteningly topical.
After the band broke up in 1985, two original Scherben still tour through German-speaking countries today: founding member Kai Sichtermann (bass, since 1970) and drummer Funky K. Götzner (from 1974, now cajón, percussion). They are joined in Wilhelmshaven by former band members Nikel Pallat (vocals) and Marius del Mestre (vocals, guitar). The singer-songwriter Birte Volta (vocals, guitar) joined the band two years ago. Birte internalizes both the folk blues and the rock'n'roll that emerged from it with passion and poetry and draws on many years of street and stage experience at home and abroad.

This year 2025 is also the 75th birthday of the late Scherben founding members Rio Reiser (vocals) and RPS Lanrue (guitar) - the group is playing the concert in memory of these two songwriters.

Ton Steine Scherben has inspired and is played and covered often and everywhere. The originals Kai, Nikel, Funky and Marius, with singer Birte Volta, inspire with their authentic, unmistakable sound with the repertoire of SCHERBEN and Rio Reiser. They keep the memories of a rebellious time alive:
Songs in the front row! Pure legend!
