In Redu, a small book village in the middle of the Belgian Ardennes, time is perceived as a friend and not an enemy: Surrounded by vast forests, rushing rivers and steep hills, there is only one television here, while the internet is only available between 7 and 8 pm. The 390 inhabitants are just as unperturbed by the fact that the church tower rises crookedly into the sky and there is a fear that it will soon fall, as they are by the tower clock, which is way out of time. But when the young Frenchwoman Marie comes to the village and spring arrives, it is not only nature that is revived. Even the grumpy Mathilde cannot escape this development ...

Torsten Woywod (*1981) worked as a bookseller and in online marketing before taking over as head of marketing at DuMont Buchverlag in 2021. He received the Young Excellence Award in 2015 for his commitment to the book world. Most recently, he founded the publishing house WOYWOD & MEURER with his girlfriend, whose debut publication "Leonard und Paul" was a SPIEGEL bestseller and nominated for the favorite book of the independents. With "Mathilde and Marie", he is now presenting his first novel.
