Why are some women considered “wifey material,” while others are labeled “one-night stands”? On the “Wifey or One-Night Stand?!” tour, the Trashologists finally break down their absolute favorite psychological concept: the Madonna-Whore Complex! 

The Madonna-Whore Complex describes an old but still powerful way of thinking: Women are divided into two seemingly distinct categories: the “saint” and the “whore”—the pure woman suited for relationships and family, or the sexually available, desirable, yet manipulative woman. Sound outdated? It is. And yet this role model is far from gone. On the contrary: It continues to shape how we talk about and judge femininity, relationships, and sexuality to this day. 

In our new live tour, we’ll break down the psychology behind the Madonna-Whore complex using reality TV as an example, and together we’ll explore just how much these rigid notions of femininity still influence the participants on screen—and all of us. 

Because in the end, we’re all a little bit saintly. And a little bit “woman for one night.”
