Gloomy, eerie, true: From bloody duels on Cathedral Square to bodies found in Lake Aasee, we’ll take you on a journey through five centuries of crime, intrigue, and the dark underbelly of the cathedral city. From the 16th century to the present day, we recount spectacular criminal cases and link them to insights into the city’s history and everyday life. 

A PERFECT WORLD IN MÜNSTER? NOT A CHANCE: Encounter corpses in iron baskets high above the city, the Münsterland murderer who remains at large to this day, and learn how the IRA’s terror reached Münster.

ON CAGES, CELLS, AND DARK ALLEYS: Discover the original crime scenes: from the pillory on Prinzipalmarkt, to drafty cells in the Zwinger, to inconspicuous alleys that became crime scenes.

A LOOK BEHIND THE CRIMES: We don’t just show the crimes themselves, but also the world in which these acts took place, the social conditions that turned people into criminals, the forensic search for clues—and sometimes the adventurous pursuit of evidence.

SUNDAY EXCLUSIVE – INCLUDING A TOUR OF THE ZWINGER: To conclude, we’ll visit one of the city’s most impressive historic sites: Münster’s oldest prison. Behind two-meter-thick walls, we’ll trace the eventful, more than 500-year history of the Zwinger and learn how power, crime, terror, and memory converge in this place.
