Since 1999, the ducks have been launched into the water once a year in Tübingen. Then it gets crowded and yellow on the section of the Neckar between the avenue bridge at the upper end of the Neckar island and the Neckar bridge. Several thousand yellow squeaky ducks, each with a race number and a blissful smile on their beaks, drift down the Neckar rather than swim ambitiously in a race. The duck tickets can be purchased for €5. The owners of the fastest ducks win great prizes; the net proceeds of the race go to charity. The race will be accompanied by refreshments for the duck sponsors.
