Hailing from the Hessian fairy-tale forests of the Brothers Grimm, maniac&me was significantly shaped by the big bang of electronic music in the early ’90s: In the epicenter of Frankfurt am Main, he experienced a dreamlike era of unleashed energy—a newly born, unique form of music, culture, attitude, spirituality, and freedom. This formative experience laid the foundation for his enduring dedication to underground electronic music, which must transcend space and time.

In the ’90s and ’00s, maniac&me organized several raves in the Rhine-Main region, ran a party series at an underground venue in Darmstadt, and performed frequently at bars and smaller clubs throughout the region.

It was not unusual for him to disappear from the radar; in the 2010s, he left the party scene almost entirely to enjoy endless hours of intimate, one-on-one interaction with pure music—a form of spiritual retreat: The only few occasions on which maniac&me physically shared his musical creations with other people were lovingly encouraged by his new e-significant other and best friend, the Hessian DJ Kire, with whom he formed the b2b project “Nachtflug Widerstand” in 2013.                     Eventually, his move to Berlin in 2017—which had already been the new German e-sound capital for nearly two decades—sparked a renewed desire to perform at events: The inclusive and diverse, often hedonistic, multicultural music scene—with its countless venues—resonated with maniac&me’s experiences from the ’90s, and it didn’t take long to find like-minded artists such as Sciarada, Solco Privato, and Mutlu San to share musical ideas and visions: Since 2023, maniac&me has been a permanent member of “Duma, The Collective” and organizes and performs at the Berlin venues SchwuZ, Orangerie Neukölln, and Renate. Since 2024, he has been hosting his monthly event series “U10247” at Minimal Bar in Friedrichshain for D.T.C., featuring various guest DJs mainly from Berlin, and sometimes from other places as well.

maniac&me plays vinyl-only, powerful house tracks, minimal surrealism, light neotrance, and industrial progressive—but his sets are characterized by wicked, twisted, edgy technoid-style house that transforms into in-your-face progressive techno, aiming to bring about a loving release for all ravers present through the activation of collective “freak power,” in keeping with the adapted motto of his e-godfather Sven Väth: “No dancing, no paradise.”
