How do work and exhaustion inscribe themselves in bodies and texts? The winners of the WORTMELDUNGEN Ulrike Crespo Prize for Critical Short Texts 2025 develop different literary perspectives on the topics of work, body and origin in their texts. Berfin Şilen tells the story of a working child and makes tangible the extent to which migration, care and exploitation are intertwined. Fred Heinemann describes the experience of an illness that shatters language, body and everyday life in equal measure. Hannes Zawodnik unfolds a poetic narrative about vulnerability, physicality and the excessive demands of caring relationships. The authors will read from their texts and talk to Josefine Soppa, WORTMELDUNGEN Literature Prize Winner 2025, with Miriam Zeh as moderator.
