Almost all the important and pioneering artists of the 80s have now celebrated their comeback with great media coverage - from Nena to Udo Lindenberg and Westernhagen. There is one artist, however, that the gazettes of the republic have obviously lost sight of - perhaps because Ulla Meinecke has always made herself rather scarce in the media. Yet Ulla Meinecke has been a fixture in the German music and cultural landscape for over thirty years.

In her lyrics, she reflects on the mysteries of everyday life and love in an ironic way and with her own poetic language. Her velvety voice, her poetic language and not least her thoughtful, ironic view of everyday things have established her reputation as a singer, poet and author. In recent years, Ulla Meinecke has performed many 1000 concerts and given just as many readings of her two previously published books. She has sold well over a million copies of her albums.

Ulla Meinecke is a master of apt words. Her stories are images of the everyday that pursue the extraordinary in an incomparable way. The lyrics of the self-proclaimed "hardcore romantic" deal with the one great theme - true love; with tender beginnings, small escapes, great dramas and strong departures.
