The Senior Dance Theater is an integral part of Ballett Dortmund's cultural work. Ballet director Xin Peng Wang: "We are proud of this company, which works side by side with us to make dance tangible as a way of life for many of our fellow citizens. For 13 seasons now, the Senior Dance Theater has been setting new accents at the interface of social and cultural life in collaboration with the City of Dortmund's cultural office.

Director Barbara Huber has worked closely with experienced ballet dancers and renowned dance teachers from the very beginning. Since 2015, former dancer and teacher Mark Hoskins has been the choreographer of the company, which is made up of women and men from a wide range of professions aged between 58 and 87. The wealth of biographical experience of all those involved becomes the starting point for a new creation every year.

This choreography is a ludicrous inventory of our lives between everyday life and the flights of fancy of our hopes: People set off. Set off. Each for themselves. Some go alone. Others in pairs, in groups, together. Where is the journey going? On the Way of St. James? Yes. On the way to the next street corner? Yes, too. Because for some, the journey is the destination.
