Galerie 149 presents in the period from 31.01. to 13.02.2026 :

irreplaceable. - on the relevance of conventional photography in times of ever-increasing generative artificial intelligence A photographic media project by students of the Digital Media Production (DMP) course at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences.

What significance will conventional photography have in the future? What will remain when visual worlds can be created completely digitally in photorealistic quality for almost any subject area? In this project, the students are looking for answers in photographic practice, but:
How relevant are these findings? How long will they last in the face of rapid technological change? Controversial discussions are welcome and urgently needed.

Five student teams want to prove with their work what conventional photography is still capable of achieving compared to artificially generated images. In addition to the final photographic results, the focus is always on authentic creative processes, which are characterized by emotional depth, sensual engagement with the self-chosen themes and creative intention.

According to the students, authenticity is and remains irreplaceable, even in the age of AI.
