On Friday, August 14, 2026, Tropical Diaspora Records® presents an authentic journey to the birthplace of Baile Funk with MC Gus DJ, one of the pioneering voices and DJs involved in the development of Rio de Janeiro’s Funk Carioca culture since the 1990s.

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, MC Gus DJ began his career during the golden era of the city’s legendary sound systems and community dance parties. As both an MC and DJ, he has witnessed and contributed to the evolution of Baile Funk from a local movement in Rio’s neighborhoods to a global cultural phenomenon.

For this special open-air performance at Kolonnadenbar – Museum Island, the audience can expect an authentic DJ set featuring the original sounds of Rio: classic tamborzão rhythms, Miami Bass influences, old-school Funk Carioca anthems, and the raw energy that made Baile Funk one of Brazil’s most influential musical exports.

Set in one of Berlin’s most iconic summer venues, this event celebrates cultural exchange through music and brings together Berlin’s diverse communities for an afternoon of rhythm, dance, and connection.
