A musical reading with projections to texts by Heinz Liepman
Spring 1933: After three months at sea, the crew of the fishing trawler "Kulm" returns to a Hamburg that has changed in a terrible way.
With specially composed songs and confident acting, the actors on stage bring the sailors and their tragicomic fate to life. On the screen in the background, a projected instant painting performance supports the live performance.
"Das Vaterland" is a novel by Jewish author Heinz Liepman, which the artists rediscovered in 2023 on the occasion of the "Hamburg liest verbrannte Bücher" festival. At that time, the book was only available as an antiquarian book. Thanks to the musical reading, "Das Vaterland" was reissued and is now accessible to a wide audience once again.
