This year, the city of music Leipzig commemorated the composer and long-time Gewandhaus conductor Carl Reinecke. The occasion was his 200th birthday. Will he disappear into oblivion again afterwards? We hope not! A tribute by Kerstin Sieblist, curator of music and theater history.
Leipzig's city history(s) in the Old Town Hall
Between Leipzig's early days and the present are three floors of exhibitions in the Old Town Hall, hundreds of objects and thousands of stories. Admission and individual visits to the permanent exhibition are free of charge. During the 60-minute themed tours led by the museum's curators, individual facets of the city's history are presented every 3rd Friday of the month at 2 pm. Whether you are a Leipzig resident or a guest of the city - everyone can get to know old and new perspectives here.
