VERNISSAGE: Der zweite Blick

Invitation to the opening reception on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Karin Küstner-Pohl, Caroline Bielen-Pleyers, Jane Kahlke, and Katharina Bahlsen will be exhibiting their works.

Karin Küstner-Pohlcombines her artistic work with her many years of experience as a psychotherapist. Her works emerge intuitively from the subconscious, without a fixed plan. Colors, lines, and shapes develop their own dynamic, making inner sensations visible. Her works can be classified as abstract expressionism.

Caroline Bielen-Pleyersis passionately dedicated to Pop Art and creates vibrant, large-format portraits. The eyes of her subjects are often the focal point, establishing an immediate connection with the viewer. Using vibrant colors and a clear brushstroke, she aims to evoke emotions and touch people with her art.

Jane Kahlkeseeks to make subtle gestures, emotions, and longings visible in her works. Her portraits, traditionally painted in oil on canvas, blend reality with surreal elements and symbolism. Her subjects oscillate between calm and turmoil, closeness and distance, as well as vulnerability and strength. She finds inspiration in everyday observations, memories, and personal experiences.

Katharina Bahlsenis a contemporary portrait artist from Hamburg who taught herself to paint. Her vibrantly colored works focus less on the face itself than on encounters and the connection between people. Using vibrant colors and a multi-layered application of paint, she aims to invite viewers to pause and consciously engage with a moment and the person before them.
