Faces of Mind

The head as mirror, stage and projection surface

Emotion, form and expression are condensed in the human head. It is space, boundary and stage at the same time - a place where the inner world and outer appearance meet.

The exhibition "Faces of Mind" is dedicated to this fascination with over 160 depictions of the head from five decades. On display are paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs that show the head not as a classic portrait, but as a field of experimentation between form, emotion and identity.

Reduction, fragmentation, repetition and alienation open up new perspectives on the human. Views are questioned, masks become symbols of play, vulnerability and self-determination. The result is a multi-layered panorama about seeing, showing and concealing - about the construction of the self.

"Faces of Mind" is an initiative of the PECADI Art Foundation of Drs. Carmen and Dietmar Peikert, whose collection forms the core of the exhibition. With their passion for art as an expression of inner experience, they are providing a public insight into their extraordinary collection for the first time.
