On Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 7 pm, we cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition Hope for Life. The focus is on the works of Afghan artist Hafiza Qasimi, which portray the lives of women in Afghanistan - women whose existence and rights are threatened under the Taliban regime. Her art is a moving expression of resistance, remembrance and hope for freedom.
The exhibition shows photographs of earlier works created in Afghanistan, some of which had to be destroyed for security reasons, as well as new paintings from exile in Germany.
At the vernissage, Hafiza Qasimi, GDR opposition activist and photographer Tina Bara and Hannah Neumann (MEP, Friends of Campus for Democracy) will talk about women's rights, artistic protest and political courage. The evening will be accompanied by music from the group "Tschiltan", which plays traditional Central Asian music.
Before the event, there will be two guided tours (both at 6 pm) through the Stasi Records Archive and the Archive of the GDR Opposition.
