Max Eckhardt currently prefers to paint people: clear, abstracted portraits in oil that, despite their uniqueness, also stand for archetypes. Inspired by industrial design, he combines aesthetics and simplicity. His painting technique lends the faces depth and sophistication. It is often only at a second, closer look that it becomes clear how skillfully Eckhardt uses colour accents to create tension and arouse emotions. An unexpected splash of bright red here or a surprising stroke of blue there give the pictures a fascinatingly powerful aura and the subjects a soul.
