The exhibition "things with feelings" brings together two artistic positions that make the discomfort in the familiar visible. The hybrid fabric creatures by Lea Gocht (*1995) combine representations of a female body with cat-like elements. With broad grins and staring, bleak eyes, they direct their gaze towards us. Gocht's practice revolves around the multiple crises of the present and their effects on the individual. Manuel Cornelius (*1991) transfers digital product logics into sculptures made of agar jelly. At first they appear as flawless, technoid surfaces, but quickly reveal their organic fragility and tendency to decay. Both positions work with unstable bodies and soft, yet resistant surfaces. While Gocht's installations look inwards, Cornelius' sculptures focus attention on processes of decay and transformation. Together, they create an exciting network of allusions that oscillates between attraction and irritation.
