We are delighted to present an artist who has known each other since their studies and appreciates their artistic work, but has never exhibited together before. How wonderful that this has now been achieved at GE59!
Ursula Paletta and Quirin Bäumler
"Seen from the horizon"
Vernissage on Thursday, November 23, 2023, 6-9 pm
Ursula Paletta is showing a series of photographs entitled "notes on light". The photographs were taken at night. However, it is not the darkness that is the theme, but the light that transforms the nocturnal landscapes into fairytale-like, unreal scenarios.
The viewer is drawn into these images of almost galactic proportions, space and time dissolve. Details become recognizable as you approach. The actual remains perceptible and yet these images point beyond reality. An intense experience between imagination and reality!
Quirin Bäumler also allows concrete forms to emerge from the dark and unclear. On the one hand, there are his sculptures, which he models - unlike usual - as negative forms. The sculptural work only comes to light when it is cast. Quirin Bäumler thus consciously accepts a loss of control. The result is irritating and surprising - for the artist and the viewer alike.
Quirin Bäumler's drawings are also created in a searching manner and without a clear inner image of the result. Intuitively placed lines take on a life of their own and condense into figurative and abstract spaces and shapes.
Ursula Paletta and Quirin Bäumler do not document a specific world view in their works, but rather open up new worlds.
The title "Seen from the horizon" is to be understood as an invitation to broaden the view as well as to turn it around.
