Victoria Canal has already traveled a lot in her life: born in Munich in 1998 into a Cuban-American family, she has already lived in Shanghai, Tokyo, Madrid, Dubai and Amsterdam in just 26 years. Her parents' work meant that she had already moved several times, and she continued this lifestyle at the age of 16. After recording her first songs, she was awarded a scholarship to the renowned Berklee Music University in the USA in 2014. Her exceptional musical talent was quickly recognized there: despite her missing right forearm since birth, she was soon playing the piano better than many of her peers. At just 17, Victoria released her first singles, followed by her first EP "Into the Pull" in 2016. On her second EP "Victoria", she addressed her identity as a queer, disabled woman with a mixed cultural background and upbringing more intensively than ever before. Her ability as a singer-songwriter did not go unnoticed: in addition to increasing attention from music critics, she also gained a famous fan: Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, discovered her music online and made sure that she was signed to his label Parlophone Records. With this new partner, she released her third EP "Elegy" in 2022, on which she dealt with her time in the coronavirus lockdown and the grief of a family friend who had recently died. The single "Swan Song" from this EP was described by Chris Martin as "one of the best songs ever" - a special honor for Canal, who has been a big fan of Coldplay since childhood. In August 2023, Canal released her fourth EP "Well Well", on which she showed herself to be more open and vulnerable than ever before. After receiving one of the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards as "Rising Star" in the same year, the lead single "Black Swan" was awarded "Best Song" at the beginning of this year. She also gained more and more experience and new fans on stage: after her first headline tour, she played several international support shows for folk singer Hozier in spring 2023 and impressed with her unique energy. Her concerts thrive on great music and a particularly close fan-artist relationship - there is rarely better group therapy. This fall, Victoria Canal will embark on her first world tour, including three concerts in the country of her birth.
