Mangroves - forests changing with the tides
Mangrove forests are among the most fascinating and at the same time most vulnerable ecosystems in the tropics. They perform key functions in coastal protection, provide habitats for numerous animal and plant species and make an important contribution to the global carbon cycle.
In his lecture, Dr. Tobias Poprick from the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) will provide insights into the adaptation strategies of mangroves to their special living conditions between land and sea. The focus is on the question of how these coastal ecosystems could react to future climate change scenarios - based on current research findings.
