Seagrass meadows - the "coral reefs of the Baltic Sea "
They are often underestimated and yet they are true climate saviors under water. Seagrass stores CO₂, protects our coasts and is a nursery for numerous marine animals. But why has it disappeared in many places in the Baltic Sea and what does it need to make a comeback?
In their lecture, Jule Wirries and Miri Merk will report on how they are researching seagrass at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel and working on methods for renaturation. Dive down with them and look forward to exciting videos, impressive pictures and real insights into the underwater world and current marine research!
For everyone who wants to understand how everything in the sea is connected - and why even things that seem inconspicuous sometimes have superpowers.
