The French Quatuor Ebène has enjoyed a top position among the world's leading string quartets for years. With its fresh approach, it always gets to the heart of the music thanks to its intensity and unconditionality. Added to this is an almost telepathic understanding with which these four musicians soar to peak performances. In their program, they bring together three representatives of Viennese Classicism - Haydn, Mozart and Schubert - who had already opened the door to Romanticism with their innovations for the string quartet. In his String Quartet in G minor, Haydn displays a diabolical love of experimenting with musical disorder, far removed from the strict conventions of his time. Mozart, on the other hand, completed the emancipation of the cello from its function as the carrier of the bass line with his String Quartet K. 575. And Schubert? He completely broke the mold with his last string quartet! As the sum of all his experiments with sound and form, it is so progressive that it constantly comes up with surprising twists and turns. It will be interesting to see what kind of interpretations the creative Quatuor Ebène with its artistic daring will come up with!
