Experience a new world with almost all your senses, in which the laws of physics are suspended. This is made possible by the unprecedented virtual reality installation Virtual Kinetic Landscape in Gelsenkirchen. Free admission .

"virtual kinetic landscape" uses the possibilities of immersive technology to experiment with light and mechanical movement. With the help of so-called non-Euclidean spaces and the technique of redirected walking, digital architectures are created that could not be realized physically. The ten-minute, groundbreaking VR experience in the style of a walk-through walking simulator can be freely explored through VR glasses.

Inspired by the large collection of kinetic art in the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen, which is unique in Germany, and its museum architecture, "virtual kinetic landscape" creates completely new spatial experiences in a constantly changing virtual world. The electronic soundscape embedded in the VR installation was created by the renowned DJ and producer from the Ruhr region Emrah Arslan (Eame) .

The digital artwork is also aimed at a target group outside the traditional art audience - in keeping with the motto of the early kineticists: "Art for everyone". The project was realized by the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen in cooperation with Studio mxr storytelling.

After the opening evening on December 4, "virtual kinetic landscape" will be open to the general public from December 5 to 21, 2025, Wednesdays to Sundays from 2 to 7 pm. Slots can be booked in advance free of charge via virtual-kinetic.de.
