Vögel gegen die Einsamkeit – Messenger Birds und ihre Geschichte
In the organizer's words:
Arsenii and his wife Anna have come up with a wonderful idea to connect people who are lonely. Arsenii is a Russian artist who fled Russia out of fear of persecution and made his way to Hamburg through many twists and turns. Drawing on his own experience with loneliness and his desire to say “hello” to the city, he began sewing little birds and giving them away to people.
The birds are placed in public spaces, along with a note: “Do you sometimes feel lonely or isolated? Take a bird!” Each bird comes with a letter addressed to the person who finds it. That’s why they call the project Messenger Birds. Every bird has a name and a story, which is shared on Instagram.
In this way, people connect with one another, and a small alternative to loneliness becomes visible.
In this course, Arsenii will show you how to sew these little birds.
You can make a bird for yourself or for someone who’s feeling lonely.
No special sewing skills are required—everyone is welcome.
The number of participants is limited to six.
See you at the Nest!
We’ll have coffee, tea, and water ready for you in the workshop.
