Lecture by Horst Frehe (former MdBB)
In 1977, Horst Frehe and Franz Christoph founded Germany's first cripple group in Bremen. In this group, people with disabilities stood up for their rights to participation and deliberately chose a self-designation that referred to their discrimination. In 1981, Horst Frehe and Swantje Köbsell chained themselves together with two other people with disabilities to the Bremen parliament to protest against cuts to transport services.
The lecture sheds light on the disability movement from its foundation to the present day, presenting successes, but also the hurdles that still exist in society for people with disabilities.
The lecture is part of the program accompanying the special exhibition "mittendrin. Between disability and self-determination".
