With texts and pictures about Asterix & Obelix, Le petit Nicolas, Lucky Luke, Iznogoud ... we celebrate the 100th birthday of the unique storyteller René Goscinny. With his ingenious creativity, he gave culture one of its most beautiful cultural revolutions and elevated the comic strip to the status of the "ninth art". Parodies and puns form the style of an author for whom history, language and childhood were the inspiration for his work. Beyond the laughter, we trace the traces of his culture, the heritage of Eastern European Jewry, enriched by the encounter of Argentinean and North American exile and nourished by the classicism of the French tradition. How can this unrivaled success be explained? The figures speak for themselves: Goscinny's works have been translated into 150 languages, including Asterix in 120 languages, Iznogoud and Lucky Luke in around 40 languages. Little Nick is now part of the school curriculum.
