In the organizer's words:
Preserving Value Through Traditional Upholstery Techniques and Restoration
How can furniture be used more sustainably? What stories lie behind old materials and traditional craft techniques? And why is it worth preserving what we already have instead of buying new?
As part of the event series “Circular Economy in the Furniture Trade,” Silke Peukert, a craft restorer, and Georg Friedrichs, a carpenter and restorer, will offer fascinating insights into traditional craft techniques, restoration practices, and the importance of repair and value preservation. Using concrete examples, they demonstrate how furniture can be preserved and continue to be used through artisanal expertise.
The event series explores the potential of the circular economy in the furniture sector and uses practical examples to demonstrate how value preservation, repair, and reuse can be achieved. It is open to anyone interested; no prior knowledge is required.
The event series is organized by the FAB.Region Bergisches Städtedreieck project.
