To mark Caroline von Dacheröden's birthday, a special afternoon is being held in her former home. Born on February 23, 1766, Caroline was considered a witty hostess, an accurate observer and an important personality of the classical period. Her life was characterized by literary encounters, social debates and a far-reaching network that included Wilhelm von Humboldt, Schiller, Goethe and many other contemporaries.

In her lecture, Eva-Maria Stein guides us through Caroline's eventful life story - from her youth in Erfurt to her role as a salonnière and her influence on the intellectual climate of her era. It paints a portrait of a woman who went far beyond the traditional roles of her time: a hostess with attitude, humor and remarkable intellectual openness.

Afterwards, coffee and cake will be served in the historic ambience of the house that Caroline herself once shaped.
