That's what it's all about:

How healthy is our planet?
What pressures are affecting the climate, water, soil, forests and biodiversity today?
And what does this mean for our future?

The lecture "The health check of our planet Earth" takes participants on a vivid journey through the most important processes of our Earth system. It explains in simple language how the atmosphere, water, soil, forests and ecosystems are interconnected - and how humans are changing these natural systems.

The focus is on the scientific concept of "planetary boundaries" by earth system researcher Johan Rockström. A vivid "health check" of the Earth will be used to show in which areas our planet is still in a safe condition - and where there are already major risks.

The lecture combines current scientific findings with illustrative examples from everyday life and shows why the stability of our planet is the basis for our lives and our society.

The lecture will be followed by an opportunity for discussion and exchange.

The lecture evening is part of the environmental education project "Wissen.Wirken.Wandeln.", which is funded by the Stiftung Umwelt und Entwicklung NRW.

Note on accessibility:

The entrance to the house is not barrier-free. There are six steps to climb. There is a ground-floor toilet on the first floor, but it is not barrier-free; there are further toilets on the upper floor.

Information on public transport/parking facilities:

There are only a few parking spaces directly in front of the building. There are additional parking spaces along Zeppelinallee.

The Naturfreundehaus can be reached in about eight minutes from the subway station "Holbeinstraße". The bus stop "Schwarzmühlenstraße" is about a five-minute walk away.
