When trains were supposed to learn to fly
Franz Kruckenberg is one of the most prominent pioneers of high-speed rail transportation in Germany. Coming from an aviation background, he pursued the visionary idea of transferring the principles of flight to the railways in order to make transportation faster and safer. With his legendary test vehicle, the Schienenzeppelin, Franz Kruckenberg brought innovative drive technologies and consistent lightweight construction to the tracks - approaches that were far ahead of their time.
In his lecture , Hans-Joachim Eitze sheds light on Kruckenberg's work and visions in a historical context and shows how his ideas continued to have an impact for decades.
The lecture will be supplemented by original photographs, models of Kruckenberg's rail vehicles and the fragment of the power head of SVT 137 155 on display in the museum.
