Lecture by Robert Neu
Daring or madness? In a small inflatable boat, crammed with supplies and camera equipment, Robert Neu sets out to navigate the 3,185 km Yukon River. With his ultra-light packraft, he wants to cross the North American wilderness of Canada and Alaska, paddling from the glaciers of the headwater lakes in British Columbia to the mouth of the windswept Bering Sea. Months of seclusion on and along the river follow, during which he meets people only sporadically - often local Indians and Yupik Eskimos. Otherwise he is thrown back on himself and leads a touchingly original life in nature, which is characterized by simplicity, honesty and breathtaking silence. And of close encounters with beavers, moose, eagles and bears. Significantly, the greatest dangers to his adventure come from an arsonist and a knifeman who want to destroy his inflatable boat ...
The rousing account of the realization of a life's dream - longing and campfire romance included!
