With a spotlight on the legal reappraisal after 1945

One consequence of the destruction of the first German republic by the National Socialists was the transformation of the police into an instrument of oppression and terror. In addition, members of the police played a central role in the murder of Jewish people from all over Europe, especially at the beginning of the Second World War. Police historian Dr. Dirk Götting from the Lower Saxony Police Academy traces this little-known involvement of the police in the Holocaust and takes a look at the legal handling of these crimes right up to the present day.
