Vortrag von Dieter Schwarz: "Gerhard Richter Zwei Graue Doppelspiegel für ein Pendel, Münster 2018"

In the organizer's words:

The installation Two Gray Double Mirrors for a Pendulum by Gerhard Richter has been on display in the Dominican Church since June 2018. The Kunsthalle Münster has now invited Dieter Schwarz, an expert on Gerhard Richter's work, to give a lecture at the Dominikanerkirche to talk about the installation. Based on his book Gerhard Richter. Zwei graue Doppelspiegel für ein Pendel in Münster, published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König in 2021, the author and curator traces the history of the installation's creation and presents it as a Gesamtkunstwerk in which space and light, stillness and movement, architecture and (glass) images, aesthetic experience and scientific research come together. In his lecture, he will also situate the installation in the context of Richter's oeuvre, focusing on his mirrors, his pictorial spaces and the significance of the color grey.

The lecture is part of the exhibition Jelena Bulajić: Untitled (after), which can be seen at Kunsthalle Münster until March 29, 2026. Like Gerhard Richter, Bulajić also explores the various characteristics of the medium of painting, its foundations and possibilities.
