Vortragsreihe Exponat des Monats: Heinrich der Löwe gründet den Braunschweiger Hagen mit Siedlern aus Flandern.

In the organizer's words:

The Hagen is one of the five urban soft areas of historic Brunswick. Its foundation is attributed to Henry the Lion, but the exact circumstances and exact time of origin are unknown. Based on its location in the marshy Oker lowlands, the way in which it was developed as a new settlement area and the recruitment and immigration of coastal inhabitants made homeless by a severe storm surge event, the lecture sheds light on these previously unresolved questions. In addition, the principles of organization and structuring of this systematically planned new soft landscape are presented with the help of illustrations and maps.
The exhibit of the month is the historical city model in the Old Town Hall.
