In the new program "Wagner zu dritt mit Harald Schmidt", fans and those who want to become fans can experience just how entertaining the music and lyrics of Richard Wagner can be. The entertainer's guests are Klaus Florian Vogt and Jobst Schneiderat. Klaus Florian Vogt, who has sung almost all the tenor roles in all of Richard Wagner's operas, and the entertainer and actor Harald Schmidt, who is also a trained organist and church musician, take their audience on an entertaining journey through the Wagner cosmos in their new program. No aspect is too far-fetched, no punchline too silly. Are you in awe of the master's work? Not with Harald Schmidt, who finally gets to ask the questions that have been bothering him for a long time: How can you even memorize these endless and strange lyrics? What do you do as a singer when you are unfamiliar with the direction? How spontaneous are stage performances anyway - when is a scene directed, when is it pure improvisation? With Klaus Florian Vogt, Harald Schmidt has an excellent partner at his side. The world-famous singer is one of today's outstanding Wagner tenors. His repertoire includes above all dramatic roles such as Lohengrin, Tannhäuser, Parsifal, Walther von Stolzing ("Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg") Siegmund and Siegfried, but also Florestan ("Fidelio") and Hoffmann ("Les Contes d'Hoffmann").
Klaus Florian Vogt is a much sought-after guest at all the world's major opera houses as well as at the Bayreuth Festival, the Salzburg Festival and numerous festivals. Engagements have taken him to opera houses in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, London, Barcelona, Vienna, Madrid, Milan, Toulouse, Helsinki, New York and Tokyo, among others. In 2005, he made his Japanese debut as Hoffmann ("Les Contes d'Hoffmann") in Tokyo, followed by his American debut as Lohengrin at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2006. In 2007, he sang at La Scala in Milan (Lohengrin) for the first time, later returning there as Florestan ("Fidelio"). In 2023 and 2024, he added three more mammoth roles to his Wagner repertoire with Siegfried ("Siegfried" and "Götter-dämmerung") and Tristan.
Klaus Florian Vogt has a lot to say about Richard Wagner's heroes - and finally someone asks him! Namely Harald Schmidt. As a great opera lover, he is of course familiar with Richard Wagner's music dramas. He gave an introduction to the "Ring of the Nibelung" at the Zurich Opera with his "Behind the Curtain" format and also invited discussion partners from the theater. In addition to Klaus Florian Vogt, "Wagner in Threes with Harald Schmidt" features another indispensable guest: the pianist and song accompanist Jobst Schneiderat congenially interprets excerpts from Wagner's works and, together with Klaus Florian Vogt, brings the heroes to life on stage.
