How are civil society movements in Israel campaigning for peace in the Gaza Strip? A taz Talk with activists from Standing Together.

Over the past two years, the Jewish-Palestinian grassroots movement has become one of the most prominent civil society voices in Israel for a ceasefire agreement, against the expulsion of Palestinians and for a lasting peace. A ceasefire has officially been in place in Gaza since the fall - but real peace is still a long way off.

We want to discuss this on February 5 with Amal Ghawi and Itamar Avneri, two leading voices of the movement. Is a different reality utopia, or actually possible? What would it take, especially in view of the upcoming elections in Israel this year? And what can Jewish-Palestinian cooperation actually achieve?

🐾 Itamar Avneri is co-founder of "Standing Together" and a member of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa city council. As a long-time community organizer, he is committed to social justice, LGBTQ+ rights and Jewish-Palestinian cooperation.

🐾 Amal Ghawi is a journalist, content creator and editor at Rosa Media, the independent media platform of "Standing Together". More than 160,000 people follow her online. In her articles, Amal talks about the challenges faced by Palestinian citizens of Israel.
