Small and hyggelig: one of Hamburg's most charming Christmas markets in the heart of Eppendorf
This Advent, the Christmas stroll in the heart of Eppendorf on Marie-Jonas-Platz opens its doors once again. At the heart of the action is the cozy "Glühwurm" punch hut, which invites you to enjoy a mug of mulled wine, apple punch or gløgg. While children take their traditional spin on the Christmas children's carousel and snack on roasted almonds, adults can meet up here for a chat.
Enjoy sustainability
The Christmas stroll leaves little to be desired when it comes to food and drink, with (almost) everything the Advent heart desires. Christmas classics such as delicious crêpes, freshly baked lard pastries, kale or organic sausages will warm you up on cold December days. The exhibitors come from the surrounding area and have committed to avoiding plastic and using green electricity in line with the new sustainability concept. Many of the dishes on offer come from regional suppliers and are produced fairly and ecologically. For reasons of sustainability, flyers and printed matter will not be used again this year.
Great program for the whole family
Not only the children's carousel will make children's eyes light up, but also a colorful children's program. Every Thursday (always 4 pm) the Christian angel opens his golden chest and has many a little surprise in store. Every Sunday (4 & 5 pm), Knickebein the witch is a guest with interactive music. And St. Nicholas also pays a flying visit! Choirs from the surrounding area will also be there again.
Charity campaigns for children with cancer & homeless people in Hamburg
Throughout the market, donation tins will be available at the stalls, which will be happy to receive a small donation. The donations collected in this way will go to the Hamburg Children's Cancer Center of the University Hospital Eppendorf. And on Charity Monday, December 5, 50% of the proceeds from the market will go to this charitable cause, which has been receiving support for many years.
Children and adults are also invited to take part in the "Pack your parcel" campaign: Good things for body and soul - warm underwear & socks, sweets, toiletries and much more. - will be packed for Christmas and handed over to the midnight bus. To be handed in at the Glühwurm by November 21.
