When festive splendor shines and Christmas scents fill the air, the door opens to a world full of wonder: Peter Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" unfolds its magic between festive joy and childlike reverie. The Jena Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Jan Croonenbroeck perform excerpts from the famous ballet music - from the overture to the floating dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the elegant Waltz of the Flowers. Patrick Rohbeck tells the story based on E. T. A. Hoffmann's fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King": In it, Clara's toys come to life on a magical Christmas night. She bravely confronts the fearsome Mouse King and breaks the spell of the enchanted Nutcracker. A musical Christmas miracle for listeners of all ages.
