The KlangKunst-Chor is delighted to welcome the year 2026 with Stephan König's arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio, entitled "Christmas Oratorio in JAZZ", at Leipzig University's Paulinum. The work has enjoyed great success in recent years in Munich's Herkulessaal, the Prinzregententheater and the Cuvilliés-Theater as well as in the Gewandhaus Leipzig and the Thomaskirche. The arrangement regularly captivates audiences and creates a cheerful atmosphere. Stephan König gives the well-known melodies a new sound with great attentiveness, reverence and love for the great Bach, sometimes rhythmically arranged, sometimes turning harmonically into a jazz harmony, sometimes with original accompaniment - but always rousing and exciting. The organizer, KlangKunst im Pfaffenwinkel e. V., is looking forward to outstanding musicians: soprano Anja Pöcher, tenor Johannes Mayer, jazz singer Anna Holzhauser and jazz singer Maximilian Höcherl will be singing under the direction of Andrea Fessmann. The Stephan König Jazz Quartet and the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra perform together without losing sight of the liturgical place of the original.
