Film Synopsis:
Linguistics professor Alice Howland is just 50 years old when she realizes that something is wrong with her health: Although she’s still in top physical shape, her mind—which usually works so brilliantly—seems to be failing her more and more often, causing her to forget things more frequently. The diagnosis is devastating, as Alice is suffering from a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer’s. She can’t keep her secret to herself for long, either, because the disease is hereditary. Faced with this family tragedy, it is her youngest daughter, of all people, who proves to be an unexpectedly strong source of support for her mother. (v.f.)
