Welttag der portugiesischen Sprache – Dia Mundial da Língua Portuguesa

With more than 265 million speakers, Portuguese is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. On World Portuguese Language Day, the Dia Mundial da Língua Portuguesa, which has been officially celebrated on May 5 since 2019, artists from Portuguese-speaking countries are guests at the Haus für Poesie. Tatiana Faia (born 1986 in Portugal), poet and classical philologist, often refers to Greek mythology in her poems, most recently in Um quarto em Atenas (Tinta da China 2018, Engl: A Room in Athens), and Leopardo e Abstracção (Fresca 2020, Engl: Leopard and Abstraction). Andreia C. Farias (born 1984 in Porto) poems are among "the most haunting and magnificent in contemporary poetry" (Valter Hugo Mãe) and have received numerous awards. Her latest volume, Canina, was published by Tinta da China in 2022. Raquel Lima's (born 1983 in Lisbon) debut volume Ingenuidade Inocência Ignorância (BOCA / Animal Sentimental 2019) brings together 24 poems from a decade of writing in a "laborious attempt to connect the pieces / of a puzzle that has fallen apart". The Brazilian drummer, singer, composer and producer Mariá Portugal (born 1984 in São Paulo) has been active in the Brazilian music scene for 20 years; her last album EROSÃO (Selo RISCO / Fun in the Church) was released in 2021.

The event will be interpreted into Portuguese and German.
