Wenn dem Beton Flügel wachsen!

In the organizer's words:

Brigitte Ehrenberg-Timpke makes sculptures out of clay and concrete. She will be exhibiting her clay figures. Her focus is on human bodies/figures. Her concrete figures are a. 150 cm high. She will offer 3 workshops to build seagulls out of concrete. She will take 5-6 people per workshop to try out the materials concrete or air-drying modeling clay. The main theme here will also be the human body. It is up to the participants how they want to design the bird: open wings, flying, sitting, etc. I will provide prefabricated metal substructures (the parole) and provide the building materials and colors. The metal constructions consist of iron round bars (legs of the seagull), a round bar connection at the upper end of the "legs", which ensures the cohesion and the further construction of the bird's body made of wire mesh. A welded-on metal plate ensures stability. The participants will form their seagull body from wire mesh and apply the concrete to the wire mesh body with their hands. On the second day of the course, the colorful design can be done with acrylic paints.

The workshop fee is 100 eurosper participant to cover the cost of materials. The 3 workshops each comprise 2 days. Always a Saturday and Monday. On Saturday the animal form is made from concrete, on Sunday it can then dry and depending on requirements, work continues on Monday or the color design is carried out so that the object can then be taken away on Monday at the end of the workshop or at the end of my rental period, i.e. on 21.05.2024. I would like to arrange the times of assembly flexibly. It depends on the participants whether they can come at a later time due to their work activities. I would extend the time of the workshop accordingly.

Parallel to the workshops and of course for all other days of the period, she will present a small exhibition of my sculptures. These are made of clay or concrete and will be displayed on columns. She has chosen the theme of the sea as the focus of her selection.

1st workshop:
Saturday 04.05.2024 from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm and Monday, 06.05.24 : 11.00 am to 3.00 pm
or as required
2nd workshop:
Saturday 11.05.2024 from 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. and Monday, 13.05.24 11.00 a.m. to
15.00h or as required
3rd workshop:
Saturday, 18.05.24, 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. and Monday, 20.05.24, 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
or as required
I would also like to offer an alternative to the animal - seagull. Also an animal that has a connection to Kiel and the Baltic Sea:
Goldbut, turbot, all species of flatfish belong to the marine population of the Baltic Sea, but their existence is highly endangered. The flatfish that live on the seabed are caught with bottom trawls. The nets destroy the seabed and thus also an important part of the sea's CO2 storage function. On average, for every kilo of caught butts, plaice, etc., there are around 2-3 kilos of by-catch. These are often young flatfish that are still far too small to be marketed. Hardly any young fish survive this ordeal. We need more appreciation for marine life! Every one of us in the north knows the tale of the fisherman and his wife! The butt is at the center of the action here as the "wish-fulfiller". My wish is to put the butt and its life situation in the focus of the participants and the public. She therefore offers the workshop participants the Butt as the second animal to be made. Here, too, she will supply metal substructures and the participants will make the body out of wire mesh, apply the concrete and paint it
