Always new. Always surprising. Every concert is an adventure. Wenzel is a master of improvisation. Completely unknown songs appear as if out of nowhere, juxtaposed with long-forgotten ones, spinning a new web of sense and nonsense with this poet's hits.

Wenzel, who has been washed in all the waters of the stage, with all the sweat of orgiastic concerts, remains astonishingly true to himself, whatever profession he is working in. He seems to be driven by an indomitable greed for life, happiness and laughter. He enchants his listeners with gestures, glances and the sound of his voice, tanned by whiskey and smoke, melancholy and intoxication. Accordion, guitars and piano change under his hands depending on his mood.

It is always the moment that is celebrated, those irretrievable moments of a life, a love, a concert. Wenzel shies away from nothing. The profane pop song is just as important to him as the sad song or the sarcastic couplet. His listeners are the kings. He is the fool. He holds a mirror up to his own face and the audience recognizes itself. Perhaps this makes life a little more bearable. Sometimes this makes the beautiful truth and sometimes you just have to lie more beautifully.

Wenzel is an author, composer, musician, singer, actor and director. Tours have taken him through France, Austria, America, Nicaragua, Cuba, Turkey, etc. Wenzel has performed on stage with Arlo Guthrie, Randy Newman, Billy Bragg, Konstantin Wecker and many other musicians. Wenzel has been honored with the GOLDEN AMIGA, the Heinrich Heine Prize, the German Cabaret Prize, the German Record Critics' Award (eight times) and the Liederbestenliste Prize.

The current CD "Strandgut der Zeiten", from which Wenzel will of course also present songs, was released at the end of 2024 on the Matrosenblau label.
