Italian ceramic artists Paolo Porelli and Mattia Vernocchi present contemporary ceramics that bridge the gap between figuration and abstraction, the past and the present, and humanity and nature. While Porelli transforms archetypal figures into new, metaphysical-seeming beings, Vernocchi explores the processes of matter’s transformation and the act of creation. Both artists engage with industrial society and create works that direct our gaze toward humanity’s origins and its relationship with nature.
