WERKRaum Ausstellung + Vernissage // Andreas Gorlitz + Conny Köckritz - All got your issues

In the organizer's words:

Andreas Gorlitz's graphics are characterized by clear lines, a reduced colour palette and a calm, almost meditative pictorial effect. He often combines abstract forms with subtle textures to create modern yet organic compositions. His works appear structured, but not rigid, and invite the viewer to discover details and patterns over a longer period of time. The graphics appear deliberately experimental and abstract: They often consist of two-dimensional pictorial compositions with unconventional shapes and patterns - not classic motifs, but expressive structures and lines. Due to their abstraction and clarity, the works appear enigmatic and challenge the eye as much as the interpretation. The viewer is not confronted with familiar images, but with signs, forms and fragments of text, which enables a conceptual, associative perception. In this sense, the works can almost be understood as visual poetry.

For about five years, the depiction of garage views has played an important role in Conny Köckritz's paintings. She is particularly interested in the colorful garage doors, which, despite their diversity and individuality, can do little to counter the conformity of the garages. Her graphic depiction of the garages focuses precisely on this aspect. The works, held in strong black and white contrast, show a seriality that results from the system construction of the garages and the garage yards. By reducing the garages to their basic forms - the trapezoid of the side view and the rectangle of the doors - a minimalism is created that makes it possible to arrange the recurring forms into patterns. These patterns are rhythmic and static at the same time. The garage elements are repeated as sequences, but remain clearly arranged and directed in format, with horizontal and vertical lines dominating. The reduction shows the garage as a conformist mass product, which in some cases visually characterizes large areas in cities and villages and yet is usually overlooked. This overlooking stands in stark contrast to the significance of the garage for its respective owner.
