Discover the Culture of Tomorrow –
at the Schöneweide Industrial Heritage Site on the Wilheminenhof Campus.
Department 5 | School of CULTURE + DESIGN at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences is hostingWERKSCHAUand opening its doors to culture enthusiasts and prospective students, professionals from the cultural and creative industries, alumni, all local residents—young and old alike.
Over 1,500 students will showcase their current work in the fields of communication design, fashion design, industrial design, system design, public design, apparel technology, museology, museum management, and restoration.
A diverse program featuring over50 presentations, installations, guided tours, fashion shows, and exhibitions invites visitors to stroll across the campus. On display are graphics, photographs, 3D models, fashion, virtual reality, experimental works, and historical pieces. There’s something happening everywhere: open studios, workshops, and labs offer insights into digital prototyping, screen printing, machine knitting, sewing, model making, research on cultural heritage, and much more.
Project highlights from the degree programs
Students inthe Master’s program in Public Designare collaborating with the BVG to develop ideas on how to make theKottbusser Tor subway stationsafer and better tailored to user needs | In the Apparel Technology program, “bras are decoded” — for forensic investigations by the Berlin State Criminal Police Office (LKA-Berlin) | What does it feel like to “see” ultrasound or sense magnetic fields? “Borrowed Senses” explores perception beyond human biology. Immersive VR experiences are being created for ICAROS flight simulators, which will be on display atFuturium Berlin| And in collaboration with theBerlin Botanical Garden, educational and exhibition concepts are being developedfocusing oncolonial entanglements.
