Even today, female dancers, choreographers and musicians still face particular gender-specific challenges in order to be successful in their professional field. The lecture series "What's the big deal about independence?" focuses on the (life and) work practices of female artists from different generations and backgrounds.
Nora Amin, Elsa Artmann, Maribeth Diggle and Eva Karczag provide insight into their self-image as women in the artistic profession and share their experiences with self-assertion, resilience, helpful "stepping stones", but also gender bias and other hurdles.
