Loriot's second feature film: Heinrich Lohse, head of department at Deutsche Rohrwerke, ends his professional life, which he has led with Prussian precision, to devote his freed-up organizational capacities entirely to the family household. His wife Renate, however, is less than pleased, and although several pallets of mustard are inexpensive, they are not very practical for a three-person household. Hilarious chaos ensues in the Lohse home - with subscribed root brushes, one-on-one conversations with Jehovah's Witnesses and a film crew occupying the family home with lasting consequences. A war of the roses threatens to break out between Renate and Heinrich Lohse, and then the mother-in-law's 80th birthday approaches.
