This herbal training is a multi-day course for advanced plant experts who want to systematically develop their botanical skills and raise them to a more professional level. It is aimed at participants who already have a solid knowledge of species and now want to learn to identify wild plants not only intuitively, but methodically and confidently.
The training focuses on precise plant identification with the help of systematic identification keys, supplemented by ecological contexts, extended ingredient knowledge and an in-depth excursion into woody plant identification. The aim is to be able to clearly classify wild plants and thus create the basis for safe and responsible use.
The herbal training takes place as an 8-day course in Berlin and has a modular structure. The dates are spread over several face-to-face and online units, so that there is sufficient time for repetition, consolidation and transfer. Parts of the training are recognized as educational leave in selected federal states, which also makes it attractive for working people.
Target group and recommended prior knowledge
The course requires sound prior knowledge. A sound knowledge of common wild plants and experience in dealing with basic identification characteristics is expected. People without previous experience are recommended to complete a beginners' or basic seminar beforehand. If you already have an advanced level of knowledge, individual preliminary stages can be skipped and content can be caught up on independently.
The course is particularly suitable for
those with an advanced interest in wild herbs
People with an interest in natural science
Participants who want to significantly improve their identification skills
People with the aim of later offering courses or guided tours themselves
Didactic concept
The herb training follows a clearly structured learning approach: short, in-depth theoretical units alternate with extensive practical work in the field. Work is mainly carried out directly on the plant and in different habitats. Special emphasis is placed on working with dichotomous identification keys, which enable exact classification down to species level.
While beginner courses often rely on visual characteristics and photo books, participants learn an analytical approach here: from family to genus to species. In addition, the sensible use of identification apps and AI is critically assessed.
